World to celebrate International Muslim History Month in May™️

World Hijab Day Organization (WHD) is celebrating its 4th year of  ‘International Muslim History Month™,’ for the month of May, 2024. International Muslim History Month™ (IMHM) has already been recognized by New York State since 2021!

Founded in 2021 by Nazma Khan, the CEO and founder of the World Hijab Day Organization, the mission of this initiative is to dismantle Islamophobia globally by learning more about and celebrating rich Muslim history.  Worldwide, Islamophobia is at an all-time high from the public sector to the private sector and systematically apparent in the government sector:

    • The Council on American Islamic Relations received more than 8,000 complaints in 2023 – the highest in its 30-year history – and nearly half of those complaints came in the final three months in the year. [USA Today, April, 2024]
    • Islamophobia in the UK has surged 600%. [Euronews, January 2024]
    • India averaged nearly two anti-Muslim hate speech events per day in 2023 and three in every four of those events – or 75 percent – took place in states ruled by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). [Al Jazeera, February, 2024]

WHD Organization holds the opinion that education and awareness are the sources to dismantling hate. The goal of this global initiative is to have the world come together to learn more about and celebrate the incredible accomplishments and contributions of Muslim men and women throughout history to promote diversity, inclusion, and unity.

To that end, we will present a month-long awareness through various platforms that will fulfill the following learning objectives:

    1. Discover the history and background of various Muslim change-makers in modern times.
    2. Recognize what specific inventions, progress and/or change these Muslims have provided.
    3. Illustrate the impact of these change-makers over time.

Join us every Friday in May 2024 at 9 AM EST for our LIVE virtual conference streamed on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube @WorldHijabDay. Our lineup features esteemed speakers from diverse backgrounds, including technology, medicine, politics, humanitarianism, and fashion, offering invaluable insights into their respective fields.

Our theme this year is #MuslimLegacies. The official hashtags are: #MuslimLegacies and #MuslimHistoryMonth
